THE  FIRST  LIGHTED  GOLF  BALL

The first lighted golf ball was invented by Corky Newcomb on March 10,1985 and only lit up at six points on the ball. This ball gave the illusion that it was entirely illuminated when it was spinning.

1986 PGA

GOLF SHOW

A new and improved translucent version of the NITELITE golf ball was introduced at the 1986 PGA golf show.

Thousands of night golf tournaments have been played in over 50 countries since then and millions of dollars have been raised by charities running night golf tournaments.

We won the "N.H. Exporter of the Year" award from the former Governor of N.H. and produced the NITELITE golf balls near Boston, Mass. for 25 years.

COMPANY HISTORY

before 1986

Before the invention of the lighted golf balls, NITELITE footballs were invented in August 1975 and were soon followed by lighted Wiffleballs, tennis balls, hockey pucks, badminton birdies, flying discs, soccer balls, volley balls and fishing lures. They were all illuminated for night time fun in the backyard and on the beach. Over 40 exciting sports products have been invented and sold.

PURPOSE OF

LIGHTED GOLF BALLS

The original purpose for the first NITELITE golf balls was for finishing the last few holes in the twilight.

However, golfers decided to use these lighted golf balls for tournaments in the dark.These NITELITE golf balls were not used for playing on the course in the daytime into the twilight because they did not fly as far as real golf balls.

Please let us know if you are interested in playing in our National LITE4NITE Championship. Local LITE4NITE team winners compete for the State Championships and then the 50 State Champions foursomes compete for the National LITE4NITE Championship title. We held our National NITELITE Championship at the Doral C.C. in Miami which was covered by ESPN.
